A small studio, run by the person who does the work.
Compiled Designs is run by Chris Martinez out of Northwest Arkansas. When you email, he answers. When something breaks, he fixes it. There is no account manager, no offshore team, and no handover to someone you have not met.
He has spent his career building software — web applications, mobile apps, and the unglamorous systems underneath them. A five-page website is small, but it gets the same habits: it is backed up, it is checked, and it is written so that someone else could pick it up. You are reading one he built.
Why there are two names
Compiled Designs does websites. CAM Software does mobile apps and embedded engineering leadership. Same owner, same standards, deliberately different work.
Keeping them separate is not a marketing trick. A local business owner who needs a five-page website and a company that needs someone to take ownership of a failing mobile product are different people with different problems, and pretending one page can serve both serves neither.
If you arrive here needing an app, we will send you to CAM Software. If you arrive there needing a website, they will send you here. Nobody gets sold the thing that happens to be in front of them.
How we work
Four things that are true, which you are welcome to hold us to.
- We say no
- If Squarespace serves you better than we would, we will tell you, and we will not feel clever about it.
- We quote before, not after
- A price changes only if the scope changes, and then it changes before the work starts.
- You own everything
- Your domain is registered in your name at a registrar we do not control. If you leave, you take the site and we help you move it.
- We do not promise rankings
- Nobody can. Anyone who does is selling you something other than what they claim.
Based in Northwest Arkansas
We focus on clients within driving distance, and that is on purpose. Being able to turn up, look at the thing, and shake a hand still matters more than the internet pretends it does. We do work further afield, but we say yes to local first.
Want to talk to the person who will do the work?
That is the only person here, so yes.
